Going Bandanas; Discoveries & Dilemmas
Good Day ya'll. Working on most days is making style blogging quuuuite challenging! Honestly; when you only step out the door to take the subbie to work (5 mins) and to switch to work uniform there, and then to take the subbie back in the evening to just run by the grocery store on the way home . . .
. . . Who'd actually bother dressing awesomealicious on each such day?
A lazy butt like myself hardly would. HAR HAR HAR. If you knew how lazy I can get sometimes you'd be surprised by how much effort I've put into snapping pictures of my outfits lately ( ˆ ν ˆ ) Because I've taken such a liking in B's iphone4 cam maybe? Yehh, I'm now here with a recent outfit and some talk on GAL stuff ♪
My favorite outfit from past weeks; the bandana & tee combo ↓

I've been wanting to try the bandana / turban trend forages but haven't had a proper scarf/head band that would've gone for bandana. I think. Since the big MODE trend in gal fashion lately, there's been a lot of head bands and even turbans in gal mags. Or well, there were this winter-spring at least!
I went through my Nuts scans from this S/S to gather some examples ↓

What do you think? I don't know why but somehow weird enough most of my pics feature model girl Yui Minemura again ( > A < )/ I'm liking the one with the ponytail & the updo ones especially! Shizuka is also super cool in that white maxi see-tru skirt, with the little back pack and the bandana.
By the way; take a look at Becci's blog , she's totally rocking the head band!
+ It's her B-Day today!
Yep yep, so I said I didn't have anything to wear as a bandana. UP UNTIL . . .
I remembered this tricot turban ↓ I'd bought from Seppälä this spring;

And so I took scissors in hand and cut out an ellipse shape piece of the turban off the middle, starting from where that knot thingie starts. And ta-dah! It was ready to be worn as a bandana!
. . . hey, I thought that was pretty clever. It was, right? RRRRIGHHT?
![]()
Ok, I also wanted to talk about some Gal dilemmas and show you guys pictures of my make-up from the day. Like said I'm a lazy butt at times and if there's a way to cheat with things like hair & makeup, I'm up for it. Hohoho. I mean, if I can get around putting on extensions or skipping circle lenses- you bet I will!
Example: you say "GAL makeup isn't GAL without falsies"
I say "come on, you really don't think I'd bother putting those on _every_day? Or for work?"

All you need is some eye liner. Who says you can't 'draw' lower "falsies" for example?!

↑ ( @ φ @ ) ölölölölö~ It looks a little different from close up, but does give the puppy eye effect when looked at from further away I think. I mean, the lower "lash" with eye shadow & liner thing. Does it?
Also, did I say something about circle lenses? I'm fine going around non-lensed like here.

My Q to you is: Can a girl not go Gyaru w/o falsies & circle lenses?
This hopefully explained some of my views on some gyaru style "staples". Like false lashes, which are fun don't get me wrong, but just too much to mess with on a daily basis for my taste. I'm still naive enough to think you can make it GAL without some of the so-called must items like lenses and lashes! It's just a bit more challenging maybe ( n ε n )/
Alrightee then,
I'm off to fight my way into my running shoes & out the door! *coughcough*
With one last pic from yesterday ↓ when me & B went downtown for HP.

Oh... wait... is that a HELMET I see? . . . → To Be Continued ![]()

P.S. Susta aina tulee mieleen JELLY tai NUTS lehden mallit. : )
August 10th, 2011 - 12:29
July 25th, 2011 - 19:18
That first pic looks superb, where did you get that thick bracelet from?
August 10th, 2011 - 12:27
yayyy, thanks josie, always good to have you commenting!^^ the leopard print bracelet is from a store called BijouBrigitte! dunno if you guys have it over there hmm? :) <3
July 25th, 2011 - 19:26
I think you can DEFINITELY still look gal without falsies &/or circle lenses! The style is so much more than just those 2 things for me, & you definitely pull it off effortlessly ♥ Also, I’m so envious you can draw on your ‘lower lashes’ that way, haha!! I’m way too much of a lazy butt/sucky artist to do that XD
August 10th, 2011 - 13:03
oh, thank youuu tori my girl! ^^ thats nice to hear hehe~ and yeppp i so agree with you, theres so much more to being gal/ gal style, than just glueing on some lashes and putting on lenses!! i guess to me, other things like how you mix and wear your clothes or hair, matter to me more than that :3
ah but i only draw the lashed b/c im too lazy to put on extensions or falsies hahah!! to me it feels so much easier than glueing stuff to my face ;DD
July 25th, 2011 - 19:28
I honestly really didn’t like the turban trend – I’m more for the headbands. Hehe. You look absolutely stunning tho! I envy how you tan so easily.. and referring to your previous entry – Ginah is so DAMN cute <3 EEEK!
August 10th, 2011 - 13:08
hey again giiiirrll, yeahh well a turban sure doesnt look good on everybodys head, not mine at least for all i know :,DD soooo its not automatically cool / good-looking / fashionable, its a challenging trend i think!!
and woot woott, thanks for the complimento’s!^^ hahah ginah is the cutest, i shall say cheers to her from you ;)) oh but i wish youd seen her as a baby!! had teeth like a shark and bit me all the time but damn she was one cute little mini hippo back in her baby puppy days!! <3
July 26th, 2011 - 02:05
I love your whole outfit, the color of the shirt with the accessories and shorts argh! I just want to steal it and wear it haha, please teach me how to dress so coolly haha! I want to see more people wearing the headbands in Tokyo (most girls here just have flat hair if we want to talk about cheating XD)
I personally need lenses and lashes to feel gyaru, especially here in Tokyo, but it really depends on the persons eyeshape I think.
July 26th, 2011 - 07:03
You look so cute in your bandanna! You have inspired me to try wearing bandannas. ^-^
Your drawn-on lashes are very impressive. Looks lovely on you!
August 10th, 2011 - 13:11
wheee thank you thank you, thats good to hear haha! im flattered :) oh and bandanas are especially handy on dirty/bad hair days so theyre worth loving at least for that :D
July 26th, 2011 - 11:47
I was shopping today and I was debating on whether to buy a bandana or not! In the end, I didn’t buy it but now I gotta go back >.< lol
Thank you for the awesome fashion inspiration! And the makeup inspiration too lol.
August 9th, 2011 - 22:38
Heyaaaa, thanks for the support and heheh, np for “inspiration tips” ;)
July 26th, 2011 - 15:30
Looking gorgeous, as always!
I love the turban/bandana look and it suits you perfectly. I never know how to do my hair with it, as it always looks a bit odd haha
I like that you mentioned not wearing falsies everyday, especially since I have been doing the same a lot since being here in Paris. It’s too much effort when I have to be awake so early and have a tiring day…plus, it helps me relax :D
I have seen a few models going for the eyeshadow/liner lower lash effect and I think it’s lovely.
July 26th, 2011 - 20:43
July 27th, 2011 - 11:11
I just love that outfit and the bandana x shirt combination! Suits you alot!
August 9th, 2011 - 22:29
Heyyy rii! Thanks for the compliment ^^ I’m really liking that shirt, but since it’s red im having a hard time matching it with the rest of my clothing but ohh wellll :)) <3
July 29th, 2011 - 14:12
Circle lenses can make the cutest girl look like a creepy alien that has been doing drugs for a month straight, lol. IMO circle lenses (and falsies too) go really well with the more dressy and over-the-top looks but not so much with a casual everyday look.
For example ~you~ don’t necessarily need circle lenses because your eyes are pretty big and they have a nice shape. Just the eyeliner and some eyeshadow on your lower lid accentuate your eyes really well on their own. Plus you’ve already got that circle effect going on there because the outer rim of your iris is darker. ;D
So yes, from my humble perspective, one can most definetely be a gyaru without sticking foreign objects into their eyes.
I really like your style, btw! Like someone in the comments said, you can pull off the gal look so effortlessly it’s crazy. :D
August 2nd, 2011 - 12:59
I agree with E.G. on the circle lenses and lashes I think they go well with a dressy maybe more over the top look. I don’t wear lashes but I’ve been thinking of trying them out as well as circle lenses. I wouldn’t wear either to work or on casual days, I’d keep them for the weekend, going out, special events, etc.
Circle lenses I think are easier to get away with if the color isn’t too bright and you manage to make it look natural, but falsies is another thing unless they are more on the realistic side of thing.
Can’t wait to see what’s up with that helmet o_o!!
August 7th, 2011 - 23:48
Hi girly! ^_____^ Thank you so much for mentioning me! I’m totally hooked on the headband trend! *___* You look great in it too! Come to think of it, our styles have become very similar, don’t you think? ^___^ We should totally do a matching outfit thingy sometime! <3
I think it's possible to look gyaru without falsies and circle lenses, but I do think it's difficult and also that it's might depend on what kind of gyaru look you're going for. I've seen many otona gyarus that don't wear it and still look gyaru to me, but anyways, it doesn't matter as look as you look fabulous! ^____^ I actually stopped caring that much about whether it looks gyaru or not, as long as I feel beautiful and wear what I like.
With or without, you look gorgeous! <3
XOXO, Miss you~
