Cold has meant -20C yesterday and -15C on most days, which seems like extremely cold now since we've had such a mild winter this year, up until now. For the snow and the cold weather I need not say much more - but hey, I am only about to dedicate this whole post to that issue!

Honestly speaking, I haven't gotten style blogging done in these snowy days. I even bought this wicked long-furred black teddy fur jacket from Zara's sales, but haven't been able to yet because of the weather! When it snows as hard as its snowing right now, you'll be looking like a yeti in no time for all the snow that'll be piling up on your clothing!

Imagine the black fur coat and then the covered-in-snow version of it. Eh heh.

In addition to the faux fur coat, I've made some other minor sales buys;

I was almost expecting spring already but clearly we here can't go out in shorts & t's quite yet! Though I can already see the white T, the knit and those boot with some nice denim shorts ♥ But with this snow? Oh, it'll take a while til we get there!

Alright, just letting you people know I am still alive here! Yes, regardless the winter. Also, just to let you know I hate to admit that I've been busier with my new job than what I'd thought I'd be. So blogging "at least 2x a week" still needs more blogging time from me!

I'm not here to talk about work though!

This past Tuesday I had the very honored, privileged and inspiring opportunity to have a little studio style photo shoot with my ever so hilariously sarcastic homeboy Heikki, also known as the cool guy with the camera (heh heh I'm sure he'd like to be called that, right?). Heikki has the potential to become a master photographer one day, plus he's got some sweet gear too;

So last week when I bumped into him during work we decided to team up for a studio shoot;

The at-home studio; Heikki set up the umbrellas etc and there, we had a working mini photo studio!

Thing is, I need some serious practice with posing for the camera, and Heikki wanted to test his new umbrellas and practice coaching the model. Though I'm not even half as "professional" with photographing as he is, I've got my interest in photography too and also want to learn to better understand how everything in it works. I always find photo shoots so fun and inspiring!

I've got my dozen cell-phone photos to show you's;

so we could see how they turned out and what needed to be changed etc.

For me the point in this time's photo shoot was not so much as to take hot-looking pictures for the blog header or so, but more so to just practice being in the photos. Because I'm not a professional model either, Heikki told me it was best if I just wore something I'd feel as comfortable in as possible, so I went super casual for this shoot. So that I could concentrate on what I was there to do - learn being natural in front of the camera.

I switched my outfit once and just retouched my makeup. I thought I was wearing a total CAKE make but, I should've known, it turned out looking like I was hardly wearing any in the photos!

Posing for pictures and looking good in them takes work, and it takes really knowing how you look. I know how to pose when I can see it myself (mirror) but when I can not, oh believe me we get the DERP DERP's going! We were laughing to hard at some of the pictures Heikki took when we were starting to get tired and I'd be derping in all the photos, though on the long shot the posing started to work better for me.

I'm content I had my eyes closed in about 1 out of 10 of those ~270 photos. Next time just 1/20!

Or I might also have been doing something equally smart looking, like this. Heh heh.

We did get some nice results too tho + I learned to better see how to hold my head and torso I think!

I'm not going to show you the end results of the photos Heikki took in this post, but if we get some I look decent enough in, I'll be posting more later! Right now I should be working on my school assignments though, so I won't go into sorting those out now.

A package from Japan; my big sis is currently staying in Tokyo for her Uni language studies. While most likely strolling around the ever-lovable Shibuya she'd done some shopping for me - and shipped a few things to me around my birthday as a b-day gift.  She knows just how much I love Rilakkuma, and since I'd asked her to buy me this certain jacket from gal brand Egoist she got me all of these pretty things I'll show you in the video!

Admitting my vlogging skills need some perfectening -  with the slantedness and humming sound of my laptop throughout the video. Will work on those!

Between my previous post and this one I celebrated my 23rd birthday. Some might argue that at this age you weren't supposed to count the years anymore, but I want to be proud of my age!

Heh heh that's right... I got this perfectly suitable birthday card!

Then again - Wouldn't it be fun if I suddenly hid my age and then you'd all be thinking I was, as I often hear I look, an 18-year-old little girl - who'd just happen to be about to graduate from Uni at age 18 and would therefore have to be one heck of a genius? That'd be a nifty alias!

It had snowed heavily during the night before my birthday, so I woke up to this. What a beautiful gift.

I wasn't expecting gifts but my mom surprised me with a little cosmetics bag gift in the morning.
Including the new Trésor Midnight Rose (starred By Emma Watson) eau de parfum! Sweet ♥

For b-day bakings I used a recipe from the Hummingbird Bakery's Cake Days book I got for Christmas.

This time I baked Red Velvet cupcakes for the first time, by the recipe from the Cake Days book.

The cakes were yummy, and what's almost as important is, I got to use my cupcake tower for once!

The layout & photos are just beautiful. Here the Strawberry Daiquiri mini cupcakes - so cute.

This year my birthday included baking, breakfast with mom & dad, little new treasures and coffee with very few close friends.  The older you get, the more you realize how many "friends" you have made that never really were friends to begin with - and then again, how great those few people are that will stick in your life. And there aren't many.

Muffin much, my current combo back to staying at my parents again + turning 23 is not so flattering - but I'm sure my age will fit me just fine once things with that i.e. go back to "normal".

This past year has been unusually rough for me and I haven't always updated you blog people on what's been going on. To update where I am at right now, let 2011 rest in peace and to start off fresh with 2012;

I want to share my timeline of 2011!

Start of the year 2011

The year 2011 started off well for me; the holidays were such a perfect time for me and my mr.B. I guess that winter we really discovered "us" with B. I enjoyed a luxurious Birthday dinner and we were doing so well in general. I didn't care about how I looked, didn't notice I'd gained weight, we were just enjoying ourselves so much.

February - March 2011

After the holidays I continued my Business studies and B was back to working. I'd study all week while B would be away working, often for 4-day work trips out of town. I thought it was a hard time for us, being separated. Seems like nothing now.

We would go to B's parents' house for the weekends while he'd come stay at my place between work days. I was constantly running between houses and started getting tired of it.

I started dreaming of us moving in together - and I started talking to B about, or talking him into, moving in with me.

March - April 2011

Me and B celebrated our anniversary, he gave me a certain magnificent gift to wear around my finger, and during March I got B convinced on that we should move in together. I'm not sure if he wanted to move out as much as I wanted him to, but we started looking for apartments.

Quicker than we'd thought, we found a dream apartment - and moved in by Easter.

Our new apartment was big, right the sea, close to both of our families, just everything. It was not cheap but we managed since B could work full time and I'd soon graduate. I was thrilled to finally settle down with B, and really start our life. Life was just too good to be true, I thought we had it all. To think about it, we did.

May 2011

Then came the big bang. A big, unexpected, nasty change came along and threw everything around. I will not go into detail here telling you about it, but just think of it as something no-one could've predicted, and that totally threw our budget & plans off balance.

Suddenly we weren't sure if we could keep our apartment, and everything was insecure.

For the good memories, we did take our trip to Rome since we'd already booked it. I think we were both stressed out as hell, but it's still one of my good memories.

From then on, the upcoming weeks / months were full of stress, a lot of arguing and questioning everything. I would work every day and could still not secure our "future". I am pretty sure B went quite depressed, and on most days I would cry at some point of the day.

Summer of 2011

After the shocking change in May, getting hang of that it was actually summer took some time. After weeks of fighting and crying, me & B slowly started to realize we'd have to make it out of our tricky situation together and our living together started to work out.

When I wasn't working, we would go ride B's bike (about which I never got to blog yet!) and cook together, watch movies etc. Just try to relax. Regardless the hard situation we were still in, I'd find moments when I would think "man, regardless of this crap, we are still extremely lucky to have each other".

Though I knew that we might have to move out any time, I tried not to think about it.

Fall of 2011

Like said before, the summer went by with us basically knowing that we might not be able to keep our apartment, and in August we finally decided to stop renting it and were set to move out in September. As we did not find ourselves a suitable second apartment to move in with B, we had to both move back to our parents. For "the time being" - I am still not sure how long it will be like this.

Moving out and moving back to my parents was, and still is, a real hard piece of cake for me.

After the summer, which was a pile of arguments and me crying, came the fall of accepting we'd have to leave the apartment we'd just gotten (my biggest dream having been moving in with B). Oh, I shed a few tears.

With how crampy I've been I honestly I can't say I'd have been a particularly good daughter, girlfriend or friend since the beginning of the summer.

Rest of the Year 2011

On the last two months of the year, I've slowly gotten over the Summer and the having-to-move-out, and accepting that that just had to be done, and we'll get another chance to move in together. There have been better times but life's still not completely back to 'normal'.

School wise I've been pretty productive this year, and like I've said a thousand times, I'm getting closer to graduating with my majoring-in-marketing business studies.

And that brings us to the Holidays and New Years, and to this new year 2012.

OK, I hope at least some of y'all cared to read this and found some explanations in it! It's impossible to really explain how things have been, especially since I don't want to go into too much detail with personal things and have to leave some things out. Still, I'm aware of that my life is still fairly easy compared to some and that I am extremely lucky, so there is no need to inform me of that ♥

I'm ready to kiss bye-byeh to 2011 and start off fresh with this new & hopefully luckier year!

So, sitting here wondering what will come of this New Year's I've done some planning on what to wear. Should I end up going someplace where you need to dress up nice, that is *fingers crossed*

A black dress - such a lifesaver sometimes. I bought that Zara tricot dress before the Holidays and I've got a pair of sequin heels just like those I bought from Seppälä ages ago. Ok, I don't own an authentic McQueen clutch (bummer!) but I just happened to get a more affordable version from a friend for Christmas (thank you E!) which I'll need to test-drive on New Year's of course.

Add some curly super voluminous hair and red lips / nails to that, and a sparkly thick dark eye makeup, and you're set.

I wore a toned-down version of this for our Christmas dinner;

I've only got this web-cam-quality photo of it, so hoping to get to wear this on new year's!

I made another collage too with sparkly-sparkly & metallic items. Most of you have probably already decided (and bought) what you'll be wearing on new year's - but for in case some of you will still be doing some last-minute party outfit shopping, let me post this one too. Or, at least for inspiration!

I'm here with a few (or a few more than a few) Christmasy photos in the hopes of some of you still celebrating the Holidays. And with my most Holiday themed look so far;

I'm set on stretching my Holiday season 'til New Year's, so I'm not quitting my pyjama-ing and munching on chocolates quite yet. I sort of feel like I haven't yet properly gotten the chance to enjoy the Holidays; Christmas days just passed in a whim! ... I'm sure it's because of all the time spent running between my house and my B's and trying to spend the Holiday's at both's.

I hope some of you's are celebrating the holidays still, b/c I've got my Holiday photos here!

On the 23rd I went last minute gift shopping with my girl E, at the Kluuvi mall in Helsinki...

... and to have our annual eve-of-Christmas-eve coffee with E. Getting to the Holiday mood!

A big part of Christmas preparations for me is baking - I made these little cakes for E.

Here in Finland, Christmas celebrations start on Christmas eve / the 24th, which is when the Christmas dinner is served and Santa comes to visit etc etc. This year I worked a mini morning shift at the GameStop I work at from 9Am to 12AM so I got to start my 24th after that. Once again the eve was a little bit different from the year before - I guess you can't help changing traditions as everyone in the family's grown up, my little brother and me have our fiancés and almost-fiances, and so on. *sighh*

This year after I'd spent the eve with my family I wen't to B's family's for the night of the 24th, and we came back to my family's for dinner on the 25th. And then went back to B's and then I came back home to spend the 26th with my family again. Maybe next year we'll have our own home with B again so spending Christmas both at home and together will be possible for both of us!

Ah, what an eternity the Christmas dinner on Christmas eve seemed to take as a kid;
most families here share their presents on Christmas eve _after dinner, so I'd just wait for it to be over!

Chocolates, chocolates... I replace the ham/turkey I don't eat with chocolates like Toffifee & Baci.

For me, Christmas is hardly a Christmas without the Christmas tree.

And I usually write my wish list in November already! As a kid I would write very long lists thinking "well, I'm allowed to _wish for anything, right?". Though of course all of my wishes never got fulfilled, and I didn't expect them to either. Remember scrolling through toy shop's toy booklets as a kid, marking everything you wanted for Christmas? So like 5 things on each page? U knowww it.

This year I had an unusually hard time thinking of what I would dare wish for, though. More about that below. But, I did make an  utterly realistic and likely to be fulfilled list on Polyvore;

Alright alright, I admit it - that's not really the wish list I gave to Santa this year ... it's NOT??!

This year, like said, I had a hard time listing anything to wish from my family. No I mean Santa. I've been really low on money since this spring and I haven't been able to think about wanting-to-buy anything basically, because all this time I've known I haven't been able to afford anything. Or, things I've bought I've mostly bought "on credit". My usual useless wishes felt so stupid this year - and I felt even stupider about asking for my family to spend more money on me as I already owe money to places etc etc ...

So instead of posting my real wish list, which included 3 things instead of my usual 30 this year, I thought I'd give you guys my unrealistic wish list! With some things I can safely dream of without the fear of accidentally having someone get them for me ♥

Ah yes, I'm looking forward to the Holidays. I've been setting up the Christmas mood with lighting up scented candles, gift wrapping, baking, all that good stuff. And shopping for people's gifts, too - which is such time consuming sport sometimes, isn't it? But I enjoy that too, at least when all goes well with finding what you're after etc.

From the other day - got a few gift shopping bags there!

I bought this cupcake note holder and heart-shaped candy molds from MiQ.

Staying home all comfy and cozy, doing things like the ones I mentioned above, decorating the home listening to Christmas songs is I guess my favorite thing in the pre-Christmas time. Right now I've got a tiny itch on my back though because I've still got two gifts left to buy and a couple of things to bake, but after that I'm pretty set for the Holidays.

New Christmas pj's were something my host family in the USA had a tradition of buying each year;
I miss my Missouri during Christmas time, and lots of these things remind me of holidays there.

I feel like I for the first time just wish for peace, love and understanding the most. Don't laugh. If you do, you'll see - when you find yourself with something that makes you see so much cleared what the worth of things really is. Or that's what I believe.  Cheers.

I also wanted to try the new HD-webcam I bought ↓ with my intention being better vlogs.

 A descent HD-webcam now only costs about 40€. I paid 80€ for my 1st non-HD webcam, what?!

The new cam makes things look cool when it hasn't yet auto-balanced the lightness, like here.

Alright, I shall get back to blogging again soon - since most of the school finals, report due dates etc are now starting to be over with. I've only got some minor assignments and one report to finish, and then I'm ready for the holidays school wise. Can not wait.

I'll be doing some more Christmas shopping this week, also most likely for a few things for the always so nice myself - so we should be getting some holiday celebrations styles & clothing posts in as well as some more festive ones! And ah, my wishlist post too, of course! ♥

I'm going to dedicate this moment (blog post) to finding the perfect winter coat. Looking for one in stores hasn't shown much progress but luckily the new issue of gyaru magazine Nuts I just gothas a huge outerwear article in it.

Here in Finland you'll be wearing a winter jacket/coat for pretty much half the year so having just one does 1.) get really boring and 2.) often does not fit all occasions. In cold countries like ours (♥) you'll  have it much easier if you've got 2 winter coats; one "fancier coat" (like thewool coat I wore in previous post) and then a casual coat to be comfy and cozy in on most days.

The coat I'm looking for is not just casual but also presentable.

• it's preferably not black because I've got a black wool coat already
• it's not a parka; those make me look too 16-yo and too dressed-down for many occasions
• it's not a puffy coat (like the Duras one above) because those don't go so well with my biker boots etc
• it's preferably got faux furry/leathery detailing to make it less boring

Okay, now let's take a look at the Japanese Gyaru style brands' coat set-up for this F/W.

There's a few to start with! Which ones would you wear?

I'm kind of shifting towards a shearling style coat, something you don't see people wearing that often and something with an edge. I think the shearling ones would be comfy and warm enough, but would look more formal than a parka or such. In other words, it'd be double-useful because it'd go for both formal and non formal occasions. Hmm *counting my pennies*

Here's a few of my options, I found these all off online stores.

• 1.) the GLAD NEWS one from the abone nuts scans.
• 2.) a faux sherling coat I spotted on Nastygal a while ago and have been dreaming of since
• 3.) most coolness faux sherling coat, by Japanese gal brand Heaven and Earth
• 4.) from Zara, this one's got faux leather backside on sleeves and it's a nice A-ish shape
• 5.) a shearling x biker jacket, which as an idea is pure love, by Japanese brand BUVRUS
• 6.) a detailed short jacket from Mango. I'm not sure I could wear that color tho 

Yup, I'm thinking I should buy myself a casual winter coat for Christmas ♥ Thing is, my faux fur collared parka coat has a broken zipper plus it's white and makes me look like a 14-year-old, and my other black casual winter coat is one of those cheap material ones that gathers aaaalll possible fur balls, hair and all that good stuff. Lovely. Besides I bought that one at age 17 so I think it's decent to update already (~5 years later), ehh?

Ok dear readers of hautekeikk.com, I'm off. When did the time get past midnight anyway? Oh time just flies when you spend all your days doing school work at home like a zombie. Uh uh.

Winter or not, this Saturday night when I headed downtown to meet up with my girl E, I had my first take on a cold weather look - wore my woolen coat & one of my faux fur hats I so much love.

Coat: Ichi, hat: GinaTricot, belt: Motel, boots: old ones I wore since my new heels were impossible.

Another faux fur hat, huh? I got this a few days ago from Gina, cost just 12€ so I couldn't resist (though I have the same one in brown). And I've been making some other minor shopping finds too. Such as, I made a little order on ASOS.com - originally it was a friend's gift order I was making, but tehn a few buys of my own somehow slipped in too. Heh heh.

About Saturday night itself; like said I headed to Helsinki citayyy straight from work to meet up with E. For a girl's dinner night out, or after-work, something like that. We started off at Casa Largo with some Tapas & wine. Ah man... how can I explain well enough how great it feels to sit down with a real real friend, like this?

Some of you may have been reading this bloggy ~2 years ago, and may know that I used to go out or downtown a lot more and that I used to go out clubbing a lot. Well, well... then me and my Mr.B found each other, and well. You know what happens to married couples? Hohoho~ KIDDING!

But I'm OK off not dancing my butt off at clubs every weekend at age 22 I think. Plus, I'm a lazybutt.

Buy yes, after the Tapas on Sat night, me and E headed for the newly opened NAMU bar & lounge - I don't have pictures from there which is a shame, because they had some fun interiors! But we snapped some photos on the way there;
