Home & Living: A Gal’s life… Not?

I can’t tell you how excited I am for my two off days for tomorrow and friday – in the past days that I’ve just come straight home from work I’ve spent almost every hour of the day, excluding my working hours, at home - almost talking to the walls of my 2-room apartment. You know, I’m quite a talkative person, and sometimes the company of the radio just doesn’t make up for the ‘livelyness’ I’m used to having lived in a 5-person-home all my life. Still, things here are starting to look comfy enough for this place to feel like a home to come to after work. A lot is still under contruction, and a lot still needs to be bought but… I thought I’d show you around just a tiny bit to give you a sneek peek on how/where I live.

Living Room x Kitchen

I think that the whole ‘open kitchen’ thing is the best idea in the history of interior design. I mean, who wants to be separated from the music, light and people of the living room when making something yummy in the kitchen or just grabbing something to drink? Noooot. The open space in my place for example sort of brings everything together. To make the space look more arranged I made some sort of a wall out of those shelves (I’ll be getting one or two more still) and attached tiny spotlights on top of them on the kitchen side. I like how the light comes through and it’s also bright enough to light up the kitchen side and much better than having one big light bulb hang down from the kitchen ceiling. I’m still thinking bout what/how I’m going to arrange those shelves though as the fashion magazines now spread out on most of the shelves hardly take up all the space. I guess some big cubic boxes would do for some part.

There’s a bar-height table in the kitchen itself – for quick breakfast, a dinner for a small party etc. And instead of a couch, a big, sit-on-the-ground –style table in the middle of the fluffy carpet on the living room side – as my personal daily doodling ground and as a dinner table for sitting, eating & drinking etc with a bigger party. I might be getting a couch later on, but for now I’m good with this arrangement; couches are all too expensive anyway. I’ll be getting some fabric for pillow cases asap, I’ll need something to match the rest of the living room, but something that will bring a hint of color & contrast to all this white & gray! Maybe something with a nice print, and then a big poster for the living room wall to match the theme… hmmm~

Should I go for a floral print to match the Peonies around etc, or make it really flashy with bright, royal-feeling prints, or maybe something more abstract – or even a black & white Zeebra print? … Or maybe I’m better off keeping the animal prints within my closet doors! Hohoho~

Speaking of closets! I’m thinking of making a little *Closet Introduction* post. Here’s just a preview of the 2-door part in the middle of mine, holding the pieces I use the most;

Hope you like it too~
Better pictures coming up later on!

Hyvät sohvafilosofoinnit : D go me!
    Ah kauhee himo kans sisustaa. No syyskuus sit mun vuoro koska sitte sen on niinku bye bye Klaukkala~
